Voiceworks Launch: issue #127 GLEAM!
Express Media
Dear readers and writers,
We cordially invite you to join us for the digital launch of ‘Gleam’ to take place on Thursday 18 August, 6-7pm AEST.
With Voiceworks #127 sliding into letterboxes and bookshelves in a few weeks, and given the sheer *covidity* of it all right now, the launch will be held virtually in the Express Media Zone.
Gleam is a very special edition of Voiceworks. In this latest issue, you can find memoir about nude candles, poetry about Bento lunches, relationships gone stale and long distance friendships preserved in knickknacks. Pore over essays on the secret lives of fruitbats, globalization in the Himalayan foothills and experimental writing on self-commodification. Devour a spread of comics and art about cicadas, dark chocolate cults and baby dragons, along with illustrations by Stella Hong. Get lost in short stories about the long buried language of Atlantean, teenagers on the moon, disappearing grandmothers and receding waterbodies. Absorb wisdom from an interview with author and Voiceworks alumnus Eda Gunaydin.
Get your hands on a copy of Gleam via our online store. Also, if you order before August 15 you can receive a lucky dip back issue for only $3.00.
The digital launch of ‘Gleam’ will feature a glittering lineup, including readings from the poet jax bulstrode, fictioneers Faye Chang and Andrea Salvador, as well as essayists Torsten Strokirch and Madhvi Thakur, as well as introductions from Voiceworks’ new editor and designer, Zowie Douglas-Kinghorn and Cecile Richard.
We will also be announcing a small prize opportunity at the conclusion of the launch, so make sure you pop in for the end!
A note on accessibility: The launch will be captioned and a transcript made available 24 hours prior to launch.
