Melbourne’s favourite historian, Robyn Annear, is coming to Sunbury Library! Join us to discuss the hidden, and sometimes bizarre, stories of Melbourne’s street corners, pillar boxes, pubs and larrikins. Robyn’s book Corners of Melbourne: The great orange-peel panic and other stories from the streets brings to life tales about the kids in the back streets of Fitzroy who became the original ‘larrikins’, babies named for the street corners on which they were abandoned, and the proliferation of leaking cesspits that gave Melbourne a stinky reputation. If you are interested in the bizarre, baroque and mostly forgotten stories of Melbourne, don't miss this event. Bookings essential.
