GETTING UP JAMES JOYCE'S NOSE
directed by Wayne Pearn
A brand new, bizarre and at times confronting theatrical adaptation of James Joyce’s classic novel Ulysses comes to the Melba Spiegeltent, 14-18 June, for five performances only. From the smells of breakfast, and the reek of Dublin streets, to the bodily odours of its characters, ‘Getting Up Joyce’s Nose’ runs riot with the book, while remaining true to its daring spirit. ‘We have created a steampunk aesthetic for the production,’ says Director Wayne Pearn, ‘which works wonderfully with a book set in 1904. It’s spectacular, and it could really only happen at the Spiegeltent, which also lends itself to a touch of circus and vaudeville.' Bloomsday's actors will be joined by the Tatty Tenors. More information is available on the Bloomsday in Melbourne website.
