Marie Antoinette

LET THEM EAT CAKE!
MUST is excited to announce our production of David Adjmi's Marie Antoinette, as directed by Annabelle Wemyss.
Marie Antoinette is a delicious comedy, with humour as dark as the abyss that looms. A veneer of ditzy dialogue and an electropunk soundtrack mask the play’s chilling conviction. Our doomed queen has been catapulted half-way into the 21st Century.
For Marie, extravagance is escapism while she strives for comfort in her new life away from Austria as the new queen of France. She longs to bear children, and all eyes are on her to produce an heir, but instead, she is forced to deal with the immaturity of her own husband, Louis XVI. As gossip flies and revolution simmers, Marie burrows her 10 feet of hair further into her world of sugary opulence, until it soon begins to sour.
