On January 27, 2021, the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists sent a plea to the leaders and citizens of the world: ‘This is your COVID wake-up call: it is 100 seconds to midnight’.

NASA has warned that if global warming reaches 2 degrees Celsius higher than pre-industrial levels, more than 70 percent of Earth’s coastlines will experience coastal flooding, mass erosion, and salinisation of water supplies.

These urgent reminders demand immediate action from our governments on issues of climate change.

In this interactive series, participants will embark on a journey through an imagined climate change crisis, ten years into the future. Led by storyteller Bernard Caleo, our team of experts have been called upon to help a coastal town suffering the effects of these catastrophes. They’ll work together, utilising STEAM skills to propose solutions to the immediate threat, and asking how we can solve the underlying issue of climate change.

Alongside two public panel events, we’re offering workshop incursions for secondary students  in February 2022. Led by a STEAM expert, students will dive deeper into the climate crisis and its potential solutions. Can we reverse the effects? Can we rebuild infrastructure? Will we need to evacuate? And, above all, can we turn back time?

The final event in this series will be open to the public. You can check back in with our experts, and their workshop participants, at 100 Seconds ’til Midnight: Stopping the Clock.
