Reacher Said Nothing: In conversation with James Phelan & Andy Martin.
Dr James Phelan
Ever wondered what it takes to be a #1 bestselling author? According to Forbes, Lee Child is the world’s strongest brand in publishing. In Australia he is a #1 bestselling novelist, and his Jack Reacher books are the most borrowed titles in our libraries.
Join Dr Andy Martin, lecturer at Cambridge, and thriller writer James Phelan, as they discuss the genius of Lee Child, the enduring appeal of Jack Reacher, and give a glimpse into the thriller writing process.
Andy Martin is author of the excellent “how to” book, “Reacher Said Nothing: Lee Child and the Making of Make Me” (Random House). Lee Child started writing his 20th Jack Reacher novel, ‘Make Me’, at 2.26 pm on September 1, 2014. He finished it at 12.24 on April 10, 2015. From the first word (‘Moving’) through to the last (‘needle’), Andy Martin sat in his office in Manhattan, and shadowed the author around America and Europe, and watched him write it.
A special pre-recorded video from Lee Child will also be played during the evening.
Books will be available for sale on the night from The Sun Bookstore. James Phelan and Andy Martin will also be signing books from 9pm.
This is a free event but registering for RSVP is essential.
Dinner and drinks are available for purchase at the bar upstairs at the Rising Sun from 6.30 to 7.30pm. The evening will officially commence at 7.30pm.
