Unlikeable Heroes & Sensitive Souls: How to Craft a Believable Protagonist

Nottingham is a City of Literature

Event Date: 30 September 2020

Time zone in Nottingham, UK (GMT+1)

Creating a convincing main character is one of the most essential parts of writing fiction. They are, after all, the voice that will make or break a reader's connection with your story. Using a mixture of discussion, advice and guided writing exercises, this interactive workshop will help to uncover the ways in which we can build the best characters for our plots.

The aim of the two hour workshop is to give writers the tools to create varied, believable protagonists that work hard to compliment their plotlines and genres.

About Fran Dorricott
Fran has a degree in American Literature with Creative Writing from the University of East Anglia, and an MA in Creative Writing, specialising in crime fiction, from City University London. In 2017 she graduated with a distinction.

Her first novel AFTER THE ECLIPSE was published with Titan Books in March 2019.

During the day, she works as a bookseller in the Derby branch of Waterstones. She has led courses through Derby Quad, as well as informal workshops through local NaNoWriMo groups.
