Writing Your Relationships in Memoir and Non-fiction

This workshop is ideal for writers who have completed previous writing courses or are currently working on a memoir project. Got a personal story you want to tell but are afraid to write about your friends and/or family members in the process? Learn how to navigate writing the truth about your life for essays, memoir or creative non-fiction through writing exercises, discussion and workshopping in this three-week course. Gain confidence in navigating the tricky ethics of writing your truth when it involves the people who are closest to you. 5 April | Session 1 | Exploring Memory for Memoir: Through writing exercises and discussion, we will explore the nature of memory in writing. Discover ways back to mine the truth of past events. 3 May | Session 2 | Writing those you Know: We will look at some methods and ethical considerations for writing about those closest to you. 17 May | Session 3 | Discovering the Greats: We will discuss other works of non-fiction and mine other writers' approaches to memoir writing.
