SUMMARY:Kim Beazley on the American Moment
DESCRIPTION:Kim Beazley\, former Australian Ambassador to the United States and former Minister for Defence\, makes a rare appearance to examine the forces reshaping American politics ahead of the defining 2026 midterm elections.\nAustralia and the United States have shared one of the world’s closest strategic alliances. But as global power is reshaped and America’s political divisions deepen\, that relationship is being tested. What does this new era mean for Australia’s security\, influence and place in the world? \nAs the United States approaches the pivotal 2026 midterm elections and commemorates 250 years since its independence\, Kim Beazley brings decades of diplomatic and political insight to one of the most consequential moments in modern American history in this edition of The Fifth Estate. \nWith host Sally Warhaft\, Beazley will reflect on the American experiment\, examine the forces reshaping its politics and culture and explore what they mean for America’s future – and for Australia’s relationship with its most significant ally.
