Online FrankTALK: Megan Goldin

Frankston City Libraries

Event Date: 12 August 2020
Author / Presenters: Megan Goldin

One of the most exciting new crime fiction voices to come out of Australia in recent years, Megan Goldin joins us for a FrankTALK to chat about her latest release, The Night Swim, the electrifying new thriller set in the world of true crime podcasts.

Previously, Megan worked as a foreign correspondent for the ABC and Reuters in Asia and the Middle East where she covered war zones and wrote about war, peace and international terrorism.

Now, she’s back in Melbourne raising three sons and writing fiction - mostly from her car, especially during the coronavirus lockdown when it is the only quiet place she could find to write in a busy household.

Since her debut novel The Escape Room’s release in 2018, Megan has been published around the world to huge acclaim, winning the praise of crime-writing heavyweights like Lee Child and Harlan Coben. Now, Megan’s back with a novel that taps into our cultural obsession with true crime podcasts.

Megan brilliantly skewers the true crime podcast phenomenon, with whole chapters of The Night Swim written entirely as podcast episodes. The main character’s name, Rachel Krall, is even a play on the name of the host of the wildly successful podcast Serial, Sarah Koenig. Koenig is German for ‘king’ - Krall is ‘king’ in Czech.
The crime Rachel follows in the second season of her podcast, the high-profile trial of an Olympic swimming contender accused of the sexual assault of a 16-year-old, also echoes a number of recent #MeToo cases. The Night Swim is a heart-stopping thriller, filled with twists and turns, from an Australian author taking over the world.

Join us for this exciting FREE FrankTALK with Megan Goldin. Bookings are essential.
