Noble Fragments

Melbourne Rare Book Week

Event Date: 29 July 2026 06:00 PM to 29 July 2026 08:00 PM
Author / Presenters: Anne Dunlop, Nusra Latif Qureshi, Tarek Makhlouf, Michael Visontay
Event Organiser: Melbourne Rare Book Week

This panel discussion draws from Michael Visontay’s successful book Noble Fragments: the maverick who broke up the world’s greatest book, tracing his personal family history as connected to the Gutenberg Bible. Expanding from the notion of a fragment, this conversation travels from Australia into Southeast Asia towards Europe. The panel members each bring insightful perspectives showcasing how their research and artistic practice engage with the notion of fragments in history. The event will also feature a viewing of rare items from the University’s Special Collections, including a leaf from the Gutenberg Bible.

Held in the Leigh Scott Room, Level 1, Baillieu Library.
