OWN VOICES in Fiction — Anne Freeman and Casey Nott in Conversation with Brooke Michie
Anne Freeman
The Leaf Bookshop presents 'Own Voices In Fiction'. Join bookstagrammer Brooke Michie (A.K.A @bmichie31) as she talks with authors Anne Freeman and Casey Nott in a conversation exploring the rise and relevance of Own Voices fiction, and the unique depth it brings to contemporary storytelling.
Drawing on their novels The Time After Now and Five Stages of Grace, Anne and Casey examine the emotional and creative impact of writing from within, of crafting fiction that is not only compelling, but deeply authentic.
Anne’s novel is an Own Voices portrayal of invisible disability, while Casey’s work is grounded in her personal experience with cancer, bringing emotional truth and nuance to the page.
Together, they will unpack how personal truth translates into powerful fiction, why readers are increasingly drawn to authentic voices, and what it means to tell stories that feel not just imagined, but lived.
Tickets include drinks, nibbles and author chats and signing afterwards!
