We are calling out for two Melbourne (Victoria-based) writers to join our latest Virtual Writers’ room

Ghost Stories is an virtual writers room in which writers from UNESCO Cities of Literature share locations and landscapes haunted by history, myth, and memory — inspiring their cohort to create new work!

Over ten weeks, a group of writers will gather and share spooky locations ( be they fictional or fact) . After an initial meeting and orientation, the writers take turns hosting a session to introduce a place with the potential for a ghost story.

  • It may be a building, a landscape, a street, a ruin, or any location carrying an atmosphere of the uncanny, the historical, or the unexplained.
  • It may be factual spooky location or one they have made up
  • Each writer brings their chosen location to life through images, facts, verse, and prose, as well as their own creative interpretation.
  • Each presentation runs for thirty minutes, followed by a sharing session with the other writers.
  • At the end of the program the writers reassemble to present the ideas and inspirations they’ve developed, for feedback and comment from the group.

Each writer is paid $750. This room will be hosted by Nathan Curnow

As this program involves writers from Edinburgh,  Heidelberg, Manchester and Quebec City,  the virtual rooms will either happen at 7am or 9pm. The Virtual rooms begin the week starting the 7th of September and conclude the week starting the 9th of November. The day will be worked out once the full group has been confirmed

Please do not hesitate to ask any questions you may have!
