Parallel Panels – open now for Expressions of Interest!

Parallel Panels is a residency exchange program for graphic storytellers. It is hosted by Bucheon City of Literature and Melbourne City of Literature, in partnership with RMIT Culture.

Parallel Panels residency

A graphic storyteller (one from Bucheon and one from Melbourne) will spend a fortnight in their sister city. During this time, they will work on a project of their choosing and the Parallel Panels project. They will also be required to be part of a public event, in negotiation with the host City.

The resident will have their travel and accommodation covered. They will also receive an AUD$2000 per diem.

Parallel Panels project

The Parallel Panels project commission is a graphic storytelling piece, which will be consolidated at the end of the two residencies. The two residents will collaborate on this project.

The Parallel Panels project will also include the delivery of a workshop for local graphic storytelling creatives at the end of their residency periods. Each resident will be able to deliver their workshop in their own desired format.

Eligibility

This initiative is open to any Victorian professional who can describe themselves as a graphic storyteller. A graphic storyteller refers to any writer who uses imagery to tell their story.

Please note that this call out is only for Victoria-based professionals for the Bucheon residency.

Dates

The program will run in October 2023. Please note that the two-week residency period dates will be negotiated with the resident.

Expressions of interest close on Monday 21st August 2023, 9:00pm (AEDT).
