Flourish – Fete Accompli
Bendigo Writers Festival
As the sun sets over the vintage tram, and the micro-bats take to the skies, join a couple of Bendigo artists at their eccentric home in the forest for a final festival fling. We’ll start with a conversation from 4.45pm to 5.30pm with the celebrated biographer, cricket writer and mystery solver, Gideon Haigh, about biography, cricket and mysteries. Then, there’s food, drink and music – with dancing if that’s your thing. Indigofera Road is 20 minutes by car from The Capital in View Street, and your hosts are artists Deirdre Outhred and Ray Pearce. Over the last couple of years, they have installed one of the decommissioned Melbourne trams on their property, the centrepiece of which is a handbuilt house with turrets, several studios and junk-recycled installations. Winemaker Lindsay Ross will be on site to serve you a glass of premium red or white included in your ticket, and an exceptionally good Mini Grazer Hamper with cheese, olives, fruit and bread from The Grazing Trail in Heathcote.
Tickets $60 each, includes Gideon Haigh conversation and post-event entertainment, with glass of wine and Mini Grazing Hamper.
