The inaugural Virtual Internship program is open for applications!

Each city is looking to welcome an intern to focus on one special task, bring their own passions to their own task, as well as immerse themselves in the day to day of being in a City of Literature Office.

  • Iowa City of Literature are excited to welcome a virtual intern to support our marketing and publicity efforts for MusicIC.
  • Melbourne City of Literature Office are excited to welcome a virtual intern to activate our web calendar, Facebook and Instagram.
  • Nottingham City of Literature are excited to welcome a virtual intern to review our website, as part of our 10th year anniversary.

Each City will host their virtual intern from another City over 10 weeks, from February–April 2026. The intern will have maximum of 4 hours of work a week with at least one face-to-face meeting with their City.

Interns will assist with City of Literature Office day-to-day ongoings and will also deliver a project that they are invited to pitch as part of their application.

During the internship, each City of Literature will host a virtual meeting where interns can connect with each other, as well as all three Cities of Literature.

At the end of the internship, the intern will also write a blogpost about their experience to share across the Cities of Literature network.

If you are interested in gaining hands-on experience, connecting with international peers and gaining insight into a City of Literature Office, please apply!

Please also note that this internship is only open to Iowa City of Literature, Nottingham City of Literature and Melbourne City of Literature residents. Applicants must also choose a City of Literature that they do not live in to ensure they get the most out of their virtual internship.
